AIM Center welcomes Kay Redfield Jamison, Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, on Friday, May 2, 2008. Dr. Jamison went public with her own struggle of manic depression in her New York Times bestseller An Unquiet Mind, recounting how this disorder shapes her life. Her research in follow-up book, Touched With Fire, provides answers to the age-old proposition that psychological suffering is an essential component to artistic brilliance.
Dr. Jamison is cited as a foremost authority on bipolar disorder and was recently selected by TIME Magazine as a Hero in Medicine.
