Staffing Services Print E-mail

The staffing services offered at AIM Center were developed to assist mental health consumers in their quest for employment, but also to provide cost-free benefits to employers who collaborate with AIM’s Employment Resource Center.

The services detailed below emphasize the benefits for both the mental health consumer, as well as the business employing the consumer.  The partnership AIM has with the consumer and the collaboration between AIM and the employer makes a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Job Preparation and Readiness Services

Employer Connections and Job Search Assistance – AIM's employment staff work closely with every mental health consumer to determine what type of job he or she will best excel at and which businesses in the area he or she will best fit into and succeed.  Likewise, employers can contact AIM’s Employment Resource Center with job openings and AIM will refer the appropriate applicants for vacant positions.

Résumé Building – AIM provides assistance with the development or update of a consumer’s résumé or curriculum vitae.

Soft Skills Training – The soft skills training provided at AIM is directly correlated to the  individual’s soft skill development needs.  From interviewing skill development to educational recovery classes, we provide as much or as little support in this area as the consumer needs.

Job Assessments – Prior to being hired, an employer and the job candidate may want a ‘test-run’ of how the consumer will work in a specific position.  The job assessment is a two-fold win: the employer can assess the consumer’s abilities at the job site in a real work environment (without the candidate yet on the payroll), and the consumer gets a more thorough understanding of what the position entails on a daily basis.  *Note* Many employers are concerned about insurance liability, however both the consumer and AIM staff are covered by AIM Center insurance during job assessments.  Proof of coverage is available upon request.

Support Services

Employer Education – AIM staff are dedicated to creating a positive experience for the employer.  Upon request, AIM staff can provide a customized educational presentation to your staff in order to increase awareness on the advantages of diversifying your workforce and working with employees who may have disabilities.

Mentoring –Job Mentoring can be the lifeblood of supported employment services because it means that AIM staff can provide on-site training to the consumer.  The extent of the job mentoring depends on two things: First, how much assistance with job training does the employee need or want in order to become proficient on the job? Second, how much assistance does the employer want AIM staff to provide with training for a newly hired employee?  The terms of duration and scope are a flexible and collaborative decision made by the employee, the employer, and AIM staff.

Employer Support – Although the ultimate goal for a mental health consumer is competitive employment, many are working on our Supported Employment track.  AIM staff is ready and willing to provide any necessary aid or support to employers who have employed an AIM Center mental health consumer, including situational remedies such as personnel discussions.

Consumer Support – Because many mental health consumers have not been in the workforce in years, AIM staff provides continuous support and encouragement, including indefinite follow-along support such as regular phone calls in order to ensure the consumer is succeeding on the job.  The contact process is customized for each employee and employer.
