Roger Ricco:
Roger is co-founder and partner (emeritus) with Frank Maresca of Ricco/Maresca, a well-known New York venue specializing in contemporary art by both schooled and self-taught/outsider artists. Co-author of seven books on the world of self-taught/outsider work, he speaks frequently on that subject, the artists, and artists on the spectrum.
Roger was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. At the time of his graduation, he was awarded the prestigious Rome prize in painting and subsequently was awarded for a second year. Roger still actively continues to be a multi-disciplinary artist working in painting, photography, and video documentaries. He has lived in Woodstock, New York, for several decades, and a great deal of his current work includes organic and natural material from his environments.
