AIM Center’s Employee Resource Center works in the Chattanooga area to increase job opportunities for those with mental health diagnoses. Across the nation, this population has an astounding 65%-75% unemployment rate— higher than any other group— even though 90% would like to work. The complexity of mental health issues and the stigma sometimes surrounding them can make employment difficult. Our Employment Resource Center acts as both an advocate for those we serve and as a partner for area employers. In this way, we are working to stimulate the local economy, build a sense of community, and improve the self-sufficiency of those with mental illness. |
